2.  As a First-Time College Student for Summer 2022 (even if you don't plan to take a summer class). The Spring Semester application lets you complete the COUN 095 -an academic planning class needed in order to get priority registration to sign up for your classes in May --you REALLY want this!!

Even if you have applied to four-year universities and only consider  DVC as a back up plan,   register for DVC in the spring so that, if you decide to attend DVC, you will be ready for the fall. If you decided not to attend DVC, you only have to drop all of your registered courses!

First Time + Full Time = FREE Tuition
A student can save money by beginning at a community college and then transferring to a four year college to complete a degree.
Contra Costa Community College District offers The "First Time + Full Time = Free Tuition" (FT3) program offers free tuition for eligible students. Students who qualify may receive free tuition for their first two academic years of college (fall and spring terms only).

Here's how it works:
  • Be a first-time college student (even if you took a college class in high school, you are still considered "first time" if you just graduated from high school)
  • Enroll in a minimum of 12 units
  • Be a California resident or otherwise exempt from paying non-resident tuition fees (e.g. AB540)
  • Complete the Federal Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act application
  • To maintain eligibility for future terms, students must complete a minimum of 12 units per term with a GPA of 2.0 or higher

Your award will be applied to your account after the end of each academic term (fall and spring terms only) and your tuition fees will be reimbursed to you.

Once you have successfully completed your first term as an FT3 student, we will automatically enroll you in the program again for following term. As long as you meet the above requirements each term, you will remain an FT3 student and receive free tuition through the end of your second academic year of college (four consecutive terms for students who start in the fall term, and three consecutive terms for spring start students).
